mondrian, piet amaryllis for technique needlepoint class, traught by needlepoint expert janet m. perry

Isn’t this Amaryllis by Piet Mondrian striking?

It’s so simple, so modern, but in such bright colors.

And it’s the canvas for my next class for Art Needlepoint, starting February 15, 2012. Suitable for beginners, it has a taste of many different techniques including:

  1. padding
  2. textured stitches
  3. outlining
  4. pattern darning
  5. shadow stitching

YOu’ll learn these techniques and more and use three different types of thread with your purchase of the complete kit. My classes for Art Needlepoint are free with the purchase of the kit.

Best of all, those purchasing the kit for purposes of this class get a special discount.

Learning one or two techniques in a class is unusual, and here you’ll learn several in an email class so you can stitch in your comfy chair, in your PJs, and at your own pace.

Remember the class starts February 15, 2012, so order your kit today.

I always enjoy looking at Gail Hendrix’ delightful needlepoint designs. A tremendously creative artist she works in a variety of styles.

Recently she put her catalogue up to view on her website. Along the right side of the page you can view her complete line, three catalog pages at a time. Most canvases are only pictured unstitched, but there is a nice sprinkling of finished canvases to fire your imagination.

You can also click on links to her custom work.

Page down and be treated to several wonderful slide shows showing a canvas or a group of canvases in detail.

There is a phenominal new resource availble on the Internet for people who like to stitch from charts. Happy Stitch is from Australia and the designs are all original, contemporary in style, and free.

In the free needlepoint charts, there is “Basement Cat,” a term familiar to all those reading about LOLCats. You can also find hearts, flowers, a delightful ladybug and more.

There is a section of beginner’s charts as well. The cross stitch charts are found in several places. Some of them are listed under “free cross stitch charts” in the top menu bar. A more complete selection can be found by looking at this summary of posts and clicking to see the complete article.

The charts are available as free PDFs, so you can print them easily for stitching. A clickable summary of everything available is in a widget on the right side.
