This week a dream of mine came true when I prepped, practiced, then taped a segment on The Martha Stewart Show. Truly being one of the most exciting weeks of my life, I decided to bring you sweet CRAFTers along with me for the ride in a series of vlogs. By now, you must have seen the announcement video. Next up, I take you to the Martha studio where I prepped all of the steps for the project. Watch the vlog below!

Be sure to check back on the CRAFT blog later this week and next for another backstage behind-the-scenes vlog! Here is a sneak peek!

I was excited to hear that the first ever QuiltCon, organized by the Modern Quilt Guild, will take place in my old stomping grounds of Austin, Texas. The event touts awesome speakers and teachers, like Denyse Schmidt, Anna Maria Horner, Elizabeth Hartman and more, and will include a juried quilt show and special quilt exhibits. Read more about the event and keep up with news on important dates and participation information through the QuiltCon web site.

Hello Crafters!

It's time to introduce a new chapter of CRAFT. I've had a wonderful time being the editor of CRAFT - it's been such a thrill working every day with amazing crafters who consistently bring fresh awe-inspiring ways of creating to the world of crafting. However, I'm now going to finish a book project I started 2 years ago, so today is my last day at CRAFT. It's been the utmost pleasure connecting with all of you in the craft community.

Incredible Moon Embroidery by Rachel Hobson

The exciting news is that CRAFT writer Rachel Hobson will be taking over, starting today! Anyone who has followed CRAFT should know Rachel, who has blogged thousands of posts for us over the last 3 ½ years. If there were one image from our archives that could best exemplify Rachel, the above embroidered moon would be in the top 5, since it shows both her astonishing talent as a crafter as well as her love of space and science. Without further ado, I'll let Rachel take it from here...

Thanks so much, Carla! The CRAFT team has been lucky to have you, and it's been a true pleasure working with you! I'm honored to be taking the helm here at CRAFT. I've been a CRAFT devotee for years, and still vividly remember that excited feeling I had the first time one of my Average Jane Crafter projects was featured here on the blog. Joining the CRAFT team almost four years ago was a thrill, and I relish the opportunity to showcase the work of so many great indie crafters and to be part of such a vibrant and dynamic community.

I learn something new every day, and adore the folks I meet online and in person. I'm passionate about the ways in which people can connect through the crafting process. I'm excited to be heading up such an awesome team of writers, artists and video gurus. Truly, the CRAFT team is top notch, covering all craft genres, skill levels, and subject matter.

I spend way too much time reading hundreds of craft blogs, digging in to various social media and adding ideas to my "Must Try" craft list. In my spare time, I'm a tap dancing, hand embroidery-obsessed space geek with two kids, a husband, a cat and a one-eyed dog, fixing up our atomic ranch home in suburban Houston, Texas.

Looking forward to many more CRAFT adventures,
Rachel

Dear beloved CRAFT readers,

Today is my last day as Senior Video Producer for MAKE & CRAFT. The past four years have been, undoubtedly, the best times of my life so far. I'm immensely thankful to have been a part of such a dedicated and talented team -- they're like family to me. While you won't be seeing me on the blog, Make: Live, or CRAFT videos any longer, this isn't so much "goodbye" as "see you around." I'll always be a proud member of the maker community.

After a little time off, I'll be taking a position at Adafruit Industries, heading up the wearable electronics group, and of course, you know I can't resist making videos. I'm delighted to dig into more ambitious projects than ever before, so I hope you'll check them out.

I thought I'd share some of my "greatest hits" videos from over the years, so I've compiled a list over on MAKE.

You can check out my entire body of video work for MAKE/CRAFT in the Becky's Workshop YouTube playlist, and if you want to keep up with my projects, follow me on Twitter. See you around the tubes!
